Disappointed

I have loved all the books in the series..however, like so many other writers, I found the same things repeated over and over and over..saying the same things in different ways. ie: how many times do we have to hear how the ex-husband destroyed Sarah's confidence?? How many times do we have to hear that she doesn't trust Travis because of his reputation?? How many times do we have to hear Travis lament that she doesn't trust him?? WE GET IT! WE GET IT! We got it the first time!
Danielle Steel does this to distraction! What a shame!

Could have been better...

Sarah Price returns to her hometown after a bitter divorce and takes a job as a waitress. Her uppity ex Walter is disgusted that she would reduce herself to such a lowly position, but she wants to make her own way. She catches the eye of Travis McDonald, cousin to the town manager, who wants to set his own roots in the community. After he buys a radio station with plans to broadcast locally, he has the whole town speculating what his plans are (and the various scenarios are the funniest parts of the book). He woos Sarah from her waitress job and soon has her swooning, but his shady past as a ladies' man keep the ever self-conscious Sarah from taking the leap of faith. It is up to Travis to prove he has changed.
I usually like Sherryl Woods novels, but there was just a few things that annoyed me about this one. The first was Sarah's constant lack of self esteem, combined with her mistrust of Travis' past romantic history. I found myself wishing he would just move on and find someone more worthy of him because she was started to sound like a broken record. There are just too many magnolias - the book was so overpopulated with so many people and sub plots (that frankly were not very interesting), that I found my mind wandering whenever she strayed from the main storyline.

This is the first book by this author that totally annoyed me. It took me forever to get through it. I know Ms. Woods is from the South. But she took the southern charm way to far in this book. I know one man that calls everyone sugar and most women hate him. She uses it in this book untill you just want to scream. Sarah is completly annoying. I understand she has self-confidence issues, however, I dont believe she would have went out with this man at all if they were this severe. She doubts everything that goes on, even things that he does not have any control over. I feel that this book was way overdone in all things. I hope the next one is better. This is a solid disapointment in a series that I grew to love.
