Emotions run high when the Sweet Magnolias try to reunite a couple who was meant to be together in this classic from #1 New York Times bestselling author Sherryl Woods
When an eating disorder threatens the life of chef Dana Sue Sullivan's teenage daughter, she has no choice but to bring Annie's cheating dad back to Serenity, South Carolina. She tells herself and her friends it's all about Annie, but the sad truth is she has a boatload of unresolved feelings of her own for Ronnie Sullivan.
From the moment Ronnie hits town, there's no question about his intentions. He's there for his daughter, to be sure, but he wants Dana Sue back, and every move he makes is designed to prove he's a changed man. The one thing that's never changed, though, are the sparks that fly whenever the two of them are in the same room.
Dana Sue can deny all she wants that Ronnie's the only man for her, but not a single person in town is buying it. No matter the circumstances, Ronnie's return is a sweet recipe for a new beginning.

From Publishers Weekly
Woods's latest entry in her Sweet Magnolias series (after Stealing Home) is sure to please fans and entice new readers with an affinity for family stories. Dana Sue Sullivan, devastated by husband Ronnie's one-night stand with a local bimbo, made neighborhood history by throwing him out of their Serenity, S.C., home, tossing his belongings onto the front lawn and banning him from all contact with her and their 14-year-old daughter, Annie. Two years later, Dana Sue is a successful restaurateur, having opened high-end eatery Sullivan's, but can't forgive herself after Annie is rushed to the hospital with life-threatening anorexia complications. Dana Sue's lifelong best friends, Maddie and Helen, insist that she contact Ronnie, giving her forlorn ex an excuse to re-enter Serenity and, he hopes, a chance to rejoin his family. As everyone faces down their personal demons, Woods buoys the predictable plot with flesh-and-blood characters, terrific dialogue and substantial stakes. (Mar.)

From Booklist
Dana Sue is still recovering from her husband's infidelity, and that, coupled with trying to effectively parent her possibly anorexic teen daughter, run her own restaurant, and support her friends through their own midlife crises, has allowed her to deny own health issues. But when Annie has a heart attack because she is not eating, Dana's ex, Ronnie, is there to help, claiming that he is back for good and pushing her to get her life and health back in order. The second in Woods' Sweet Magnolias trilogy adeptly focuses on the collateral damage suffered by children of divorce, as well as its principals, while also compassionately but clear-sightedly addressing the eating disorders suffered by young and old in times of stress. Woods employs her signature elements--the southern small-town atmosphere, the supportive network of friends and family, and the heartwarming romance--to great effect, building toward the next novel. 2nd in the Magnolia series falls short
By Tracy Vest
When Dana Sue Sullivan catches her husband Ronnie cheating on her, she kicks him out and files for divorce, getting a great settlement courtesy of her workaholic lawyer pal Helen, despite still being in love with her husband. Two years later, Ronnie's indiscretion has taken its toll on their teenage daughter Annie, who feels that if her mother took better care of herself, dad wouldn't have strayed or had to move away. She vows to remain as slim as can be, until her health is in jeopardy and she's admitted to the hospital with a severe case of anorexia. Dana Sue and Ronnie must work together for the health of their daughter without laying any blame on each other and with the prodding of her pal Maddie, the two realize that they're still in love.
Not quite up to par with the previous novel in the series ("Stealing Home"), Woods has penned a follow up that delves peripherally into both diabetes and anorexia, with a resolution that's just too simplistic and pat. Annie was annoying and whiney throughout most of the book; Ronnie's character was never fully developed; and Helen was surly as usual but in the middle of a bout of baby fever (which plays a significant role in the final story in the series). Though well written, with realistic dialogue, this was a bit of a disappointment for me. I expected more from the series after reading the much better "Stealing Home."

Could not finish
By Jamie
I had high hopes for this story due to the high rating and plot involving a second chance romance after infidelity. It's difficult for a writer to come up with a believable HEA under these circumstances.
Unfortunately, I only made it through a third of the book before Dana Sue's petulant behavior caused me to stop caring about these characters. I understand that she feels justified in originally banishing Ronnie for what he did during their marriage. But how could she refuse his wanting to be present for their daughter after anorexia-induced heart attack even as a negotiation ploy? This seems unbelievably selfish as Annie clearly wants her dad there.
And Helen the attorney is simply too much of a caricature to take. In divorce and custody proceedings, the best interests of the child should be paramount. Instead Helen lets her own outrage over Ronnie's betrayal cloud her professional handling of the case. She even indicates that she would have counseled Dana Sue against informing Ronnie of Annie's hospitalization which would have been a blatant violation of most custody agreements.
The more I read romance, the more I need credible characters I can respect. I don't want to waste time reading about people who persist in irrational or immature behavior just to keep the plot from resolution. That has been my experience with this author for two books now and I won't be reading her again.

ANOTHER CHEATING H AND DOORMATT h - HE WANTED OUT OF HIS MARRIAGE TO HAVE SEX WITH MANY AND THEN GO BACK TO THE CELIBATE h - WTF
By Lillian Rose
You have to be kidding me. I have read and reread this book and it just doesn't get any better, the h and H meet very young, they were happy. The H was in construction and used to go for a drink with the boys after work. Because he had only had sex with the h/Annie, he felt he was missing out. He watched his mates pick up a woman and have sex with her. So he does and Annie finds out and chucks him out. He doesn't fight for the marriage he doesn't fight for his daughter. He does what he has always wanted to do and that is leave and go and live the single life and bed all these women that he seems to think it is his right to do. Then after two years of doing that, he decides he wants to be married again, he wants his family again. The h has dated but only a few times. I hate it when the author does this. What makes me made is the same old same old. The H/h together he hasn't bedded enough women for his liking so he goes off when he thinks he has had his quota he comes back, not crawling back either. There really was nothing. The h whom has saved herself for him and waited patiently for him to have his fill with all the other women rushes back into his arms - WTF. Maggie her so called friend who was a victim of cheating herself, not that she ended up with the cheater, OH NO she ends up with a much younger man and a new daughter - so queenly Maggie manipulates everything so that the h/H are back together. I really dislike Maggie sooooooo much. I think the h was a doormat. The H got what he wanted, he wanted to be married to the h and then go off and have sex with all these women and then go back to the h who was waiting for him. This book Makes me sick.
